How To Plan The Most Memorable & Intimate Wedding or Celebration Meal

Local Kent and multi-award-winning caterers, Touchays would be delighted to work with you to help you organise your perfect wedding or celebration. Whether it is a micro, mini or intimate wedding soiree a wedding extravaganza or a celebration meal, we will work with you to create the most perfect of wedding food.

At Touchays recently we have been working with our couples to create an intimate guest list, where you can focus on creating an extremely personal and unforgettable experience for everyone on your private VIP guest list.

For that intimate wedding, we say go big on the flowers and styling, extravagant on the cake, and of course we can provide you with your bespoke menu for your private dining and make your whole day totally magical.

Touchays Top Nine Tips For The Perfect Intimate Wedding:

  1. Choose your intimate wedding venue.

If you haven’t sorted your venue yet, our partner venues will offer you a diverse and exciting choice for your exclusive use. We are recommended suppliers at some great wedding venues, from Barns to Castles. Take a look at our venue list or The Touchays blog now and let us know your preference. We can discuss in more detail to help you make the perfect choice for you and your guests.

2. Pick a weekday for an intimate wedding.

Booking a weekday for your intimate wedding means you are more likely to get your chosen venue and allow you more flexibility with your guest numbers as venues are more likely to require higher numbers on the weekend. It should also mean your handpicked suppliers are available and at reduced rates, to help you create the perfect day.

3. Make a ‘large’ venue feel intimate.

With the perfect wedding suppliers, who all know each other well and love to work together, make up your dream team. This way, we can ensure your venue feels intimate and special and created especially for you, filled with all your ideas to create the wedding you have always dreamed of.

  • Agreeing where to strategically place the table or tables to give you maximum impact and create the perfect setting
  • Creating the perfect seating plan
  • ‘Lowering a ceiling’ with floral chandeliers to add drama, texture and colour
  • Adding candlelight to make the space feel romantic
  • Including comfortable lounging areas where your guests can relax

4. Compile your VIP guest list.

Don’t forget when compiling your intimate guest list, if your numbers are restricted, (e.g. there is 15 person limit),with our up to the minute knowledge of the new legal details, we can assure you that you are getting your numbers right and we will stay in touch with you with this information

5. What should everyone wear to an intimate wedding?

Instead of choosing outfits for your bridesmaids or best men – why not ask your VIP guests to wear something ‘uniform’. For example, they could wear a certain colour palette, make it black tie or country tweed for the men, and Downton Abby for the ladies, or may be you can just leave it to your guests but ask them to wear a hat. This should allow each of your guests to choose something that flatters them but at the same time gives you a co-ordinated look to ensure your wedding photos look spectacular.

6. Photos and videos for posterity

If you haven’t already chosen a photographer, go for the absolute best your budget can stretch to as you are probably going to want to share every single image with everyone, for years to come, Here are some of our favourite photographers, who will ensure those albums, Pinterest and Instagram images transport you back to your glamorous wedding day.

7. Make your tablescapes extra precious to further elevate your dining experience

We recommend adding luxury table linens, vintage glasses, fine china, floral displays, candelabras so that you and your guests are transported for your wedding banquet to a truly luxurious place.

8. What drinks to serve at a micro, mini or intimate wedding reception

If you weren’t already aware, Touchays also offer a full bar service. We can help you pair your drinks to each course, and not forgetting those all important toasts we think it’s time to pop some bubbles and crack open the Champagne!. On choosing your perfect canapes we can assist you with choosing the right drinks to really give you and your guests the wow factor. Then for dinner, we have a wonderful portfolio of wines  and we are constantly revising these to ensure you have the best possible offer what ever your budget is for you to choose from to accompany your chosen menu. We offer an extensive drinks menu and of course can add any special request you may have. Touchays can also create the perfect cocktail and most creative and refreshing of mocktails for your guests to indulge in.

9. What food to serve at a micro, mini or intimate wedding reception?

Last but certainly not least for the ultimate, micro, a mini or intimate wedding here are some menu ideas designed with you to ensure your food is deliciously unforgettable and certain to please all of your guests.

When it comes to the last of our tips, to make the perfect intimate wedding, it just has to be about your food. Whether you are planning a formal sit down wedding breakfast or something with more of an Aussie, Asian, Persian or Mediterranean (we could go on) vibe – if you are foodies you will understand that choosing the right menu is one of the biggest and one of the most critical elements of any successful reception. No matter how big or small your gathering! We certainly do and it inspires us each and every time to get it absolutely perfect for each of our couples and their guests.

And the best aspect of choosing your intimate wedding menu is that the world really is your oyster. For a private VIP intimate dinner party, we would be delighted to create:

  • Traditional three-course meal but served in a non-traditional way, such as a Sunday dinner served on boards. For example, we recently prepared the most exciting of finales, trifles served in elegant, large glass vases so that you could see all of the amazing layers and deliciousness.
  • Something seasonal, such as salads, vegetables but also our seasonal meat such as Romney Marsh Lamb, with our local game and fish sourced from British Coastal Waters.
  • Something local.  If like us, your venue is by the sea, nothing says fine dining quite like fresh lobster, scallops or Dover sole
  • Something extra special to include some bitesize canapes or  amuse-bouches between courses and after dessert, why not add local cheeses, a good port and our homemade chutneys

Or perhaps you have a unique idea you would love to offer your guests, or if you are unsure why not have a look at our sample menus?

So, let’s start planning your intimate wedding now, we can’t wait to hear about you both and all of your plans and ideas to help you create the perfect day!
