Oak Tree Barn

Kent Wedding Venue

Why get married at the Oak Tree Barn wedding venue?

If you are looking for a weekend wedding venue in Kent, we have one more reason why you should now get married at the Oak Tree Barn Wedding Venue!

We are thrilled to announce that we have just become recommended caterers at the magical and picturesque Oak Tree Barn Wedding Venue, Oak Tree Cottage, Pembury Rd, Tonbridge TN11 0NB.

Reached only by a private road, imagine a beautiful, idyllic, rustic, wedding venue that has a magnificent English oak tree at its very heart?

In the tranquil Kent Countryside, this exciting new wedding venue, that can seat 120 for your wedding breakfast and up to 150 for your evening party, can be hired exclusively for the normal one day, but it is also one of those rare, but highly sort after venues that you can hire for the entire weekend.  Party on!

The picturesque surroundings and industrial-chic interior of this venue enable you to have an Insta-worthy wedding, both indoor and out. The flexibility enables you to plan your special occasion, wedding day or wedding sleep-over weekend, the way you want, and we can’t wait to be part of it.

What else does the Oak Tree Barn offer couples?

Currently, the full of charm, spacious Oak Tree Barn is being sympathetically restored and modernized and opens in April 2021 – so get in quick as we know it is going to be popular.

Formerly part of a working farm, once complete, the barn will create an atmosphere that will be both enchanting and romantic.  Once licensed for weddings, you will be able to choose to hold your ceremony at the barn in a uniquely designed outdoor ceremony area, followed by your amazing party, enabling you to make the most of every moment of your weekend without travelling between locations.

Your guests will be wowed by the incredible views and there are lots of inspiring places for photo opportunities.  The ancient Oak Tree makes the perfect place for your post-ceremony confetti shot followed by canapes and your cocktail hour.  With curious and bespoke handmade outdoor seating areas, in the evening the grounds are illuminated with tonnes of fairy lights and lanterns.  And for those even more perfect evening shots, there are fire pits, (with the wood supplied as part of your package), where everyone can gather around, huddled under blankets, and toast marshmallows.

For your drinks, currently under renovation, there is the Tipsy Gypsy bar – great name!

There is also accommodation in a 3-bedroom, detached rustic dwelling, Bothy – we are loving the name.   Previously used by the farmworkers, Bothies are usually only found in remote mountainous areas of Scotland.  Having been lovingly renovated it includes a cosy bridal suite.  With solid oak floors, doors, and modern furnishings, it retains much of its original brick flooring in the hall and kitchen and original wall and ceiling beams, which add to the charm and character. And, for your guests, there are five luxury bell tents and hot showers for overnight glamping.

Also, (and we know the bride’s tribe are going to love this), at the Oak Tree Barn, they offer bespoke packages to prepare you for your big day, as there is an on-site beauty salon, bring it on!

How would you style the Oak Tree Barn for your wedding?

As the renovations near completion, the interior of Oak Tree Barn will be the perfect balance of being an industrial-chic blank canvas, to enable you to tell your love story.

It will suit any style of décor that includes rustic or boho and will handle any colour palette.  But, for us, we would love to decorate your weekend to become an absolute, full-on free-spirited festival-vibe celebration!

Believe it or not, carefully hand-selecting suppliers to get involved in your wedding, can be difficult, but with no restrictions on the suppliers that you choose, Touchays cannot wait to get helping you to realise your dreams.

At The Oak Tree Barn, we would recommend working with a number of our preferred suppliers, when everybody works seamlessly together to bring about your vision.  They might include Holly from Locate to Create and Harriet Vintage Crockery to bring together ‘raw wooden’ furniture set-up in a banqueting style, rugs laid haphazardly for your ceremony aisle, props to help tell your story, along with vintage crockery and colourful, loose, untamed, whimsical flowers, with pops of colour from ribbons, crepe paper streamers, mismatched napkins and candles that might include amber, ochre, ruby, rust and plum, to create the perfect ‘Glastonbury’, industrial, hippy-chic, lovefest celebration.

What should we eat at a Festival Wedding during the day?

Your choice of food for your wedding day is endless, but we would suggest that you use the day to showcase the best local produce and include on your menu our amazing interactive food stations. That might include:

  • Our much-loved Food Crates. Your crates are filled with the most delicious freshly made sandwiches, bagels or wraps or a combination depending on your numbers. There is a selection of the most sought-after savoury bites, salad pots, crisps, crudités and dips. Or there are the oh so popular Antipasti crates, filled with the perfect selection of Artisan breads, cured meats and cheeses, and a delicious selection of our favourite sweet treats!
  • Sharing menus. At Touchays, we love how grazing tables have taken centre stage at weddings. Grazing tables enable you to provide a colourful spread of the most delicious of foods, that include cold meats, dips, cheeses and rustic breads, in a modern and contemporary way, that guests just love feasting from. Styled grazing tables can be put out in the daytime, or are perfect during the evening reception when everyone has worked up an appetite busting moves on the dance floor
  • A scrumptious Hog Roast presented in a rustic way with wooden crates and hessian, has a decidedly festival vibe, but if you have a large proportion of your friends who are Vegetarian or Vegan, we offer a range of delicious alternatives
  • However, as an alternative, we have specifically designed a Festival menu! The choice is endless as we include a:

Asian Food Style Menu

Jamaican Style Menu

Mediterranean Style Menu

Persian/ Iranian Style Menu

South African Style Menu

South American Style Menu

  • Dessert Station. Using the best of the county’s seasonal ingredients, couples can choose to include the best of Kentish traditional desserts like the deliciously sweet Gypsy Tart, Canterbury Apple Tart made with fruit picked from the local orchards, Kentish cherry batter pudding and Ginger cobnut cake, that we love to serve alongside delicious wines, also made with locally grown grapes. And to elevate the desserts further we just love garnishing whatever you have chosen with edible flowers.

What food should we serve at an evening Festival Wedding Party?

To ensure you keep the festival vibe going right into the evening we would suggest the following delicious alternatives:

  • Pizzas – Here at Touchays, we believe that you cannot beat our irresistible range of great handmade pizzas. We are passionate about making every aspect of the pizzas ourselves. Our dough is hand-stretched for every pizza we make, and we have created our delicious tomato sauce, blending ingredients to give extra flavour. Once spread on the pizza base we add authentic toppings, such as n’duja, pancetta, pepperoni, rocket, spinach, red onion marmalade and peppadew, as we believe these bring out the best in this festival favourite
  • Cheese tower Wedding Cake. In addition to your wedding cake, for those who don’t have a sweet tooth or who just love cheese, a stunning cheese tower made using some local favourites, with all of the trimmings, is a must.

What music should we include for festival wedding?

Watch out for our next blog, when we turn up the amp on all things musical at your wedding …..
